On the 16th of March, the representatives of the Logos Institute – dr Tymoteusz Zych and Patryk Miernowski – were invited to take part in annual consultations with the European Commission held on a national level. The goal of the meeting was to discuss the issues pertaining to rule of law and good governance in Poland with the most prominent Polish Third Sector organisations. Among the issues raised was the matter of the freedom of the media and quality of journalistic standards, the independence of non-governmental organisations in our country, and the situation of the Polish judiciary.
Addressing the issue of the Polish Third Sector, dr Zych emphasised the striking unity with which the non-governmental organisations in our country rallied together in the wake of the Russo-Ukrainian war and united in their efforts to help the Ukrainian refugees who have fled to our country.
Patryk Miernowski spoke of the various anti-corruption measures existent in Poland and the need of introducing regulations aimed at limiting the impunity of social media companies to the extent to which they have an influence on the public political life.
The conclusions reached are to be used in this year’s edition of the annual Rule of Law report issued on behalf of the European Commission.
